Engineering Beyond the Notebook

Hi, this is Nouman Zahid, a final-year computer science student at COMSATS University Islamabad who would rather ship a working system than polish a notebook.

Nouman's path started in the cloud. A three-month AWS cloud internship with CloudSec Network in 2025 taught him how production systems are built and secured, and KodeKloud's DevOps programme added Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD.

Then he put it all to work: more than 20 projects, among them PrismGate, a gateway on AWS Bedrock that cut LLM spend by more than half in a 1,000-prompt benchmark, and Hallucinot, a tool that finds the sentences an AI made up. In 2026 he built Haven, a real-time voice companion with two voice engines and a safety layer the model can't override, growing it out of the voice agent he built on his own during his AI/ML internship at Synctom.

None of it came quickly. He built most of it after classes, alongside his degree, and learned much of it the slow way: reading documentation, watching deploys fail, and fixing them one at a time.

What he cares about most are the parts nobody demos: the eval that catches a regression, the cache that saves a dollar, the honest number in the README. If you're building something with AI, he'd love to hear about it.
